Madeline von Foerster Interview 2010

Just a couple of days after the opening of Madeline von Foerster’s Reliquaries exhibition at Strychnin Gallery, Berlin, Fantastic Visions recorded this interview with her.

In this insightful interview we learn about how she started painting with the Misch Technique and her connections with great artists such as Ernst Fuchs and De Es Schwertberger.

Madeline von Foerster is quizzed over her exhibition, the motivations and symbolism behind her artwork. She goes on to explain that she sees the living natural world with a spiritual aspect, but then how humanity often has feared it and attempts to safely contain or preserve it as specimens separate from its origins.

Von Foerster also discusses her studio practice and the business of being a working artist.
