James Gleeson – Charles Nodrum Gallery

"Cythera Revisited", James Gleeson

“Cythera Revisited”, James Gleeson

After a six years, the artworks of James Gleeson will be exhibited at Charles Nodrum Gallery again. Following Gleeson’s death, his personal property was auctioned but the major collection of the larger, later works became the property of the Gleeson OKeefe Foundation. The plan is for these works to be sold steadily, and, as envisaged and desired by the artist, proceeds will go to the Art Gallery of New South Wales for the purpose of acquiring significant works of art for the collection.

To this end Watters Gallery in Sydney and Charles Nodrum Gallery have accepted with enthusiasm the appointment to continue the work that was done on behalf of James Gleeson during his later years – namely to exhibit and promote the work of an artist we felt to have made such a unique contribution to the art and culture of his time.
