Old Masters - New Visions painting seminar

The Old Masters – New Visions painting seminar,now in its 16th year will begin in Payerbach. A three and four week painting seminar with Prof Phil Rubinov Jacobson will take place at the Payerbacher Hof Hotel from July 15 to August 10. Michael Fuchs has been invited to offer a special ‘optional’ afternoon workshop in the 4th and final week of the seminar.

Heinz Hubner, the owner of the hotel, is a charming host, a lover of art and artists, a master story teller. During the course of the seminar we will all have the opportunity to exhibit and sell our works at Galerie Arthof. There is also the surrounding alpine countryside with mountains, forest and rivers to be enjoyed. There will be excursions into Vienna to see the museums. Excursions will also be made to various artists’ studios and affording participants the chance to meet artists such as Ernst Fuchs, De Es, Peter Gric and others.

A master class is being proposed. Prof Phil will select, by application, a maximum of 15 students. The students must have either demonstrated excellence in their work through former seminars with the professor, or possess some innate potential and qualities in the work and endowed with a strong visual language. Prof. Phil is an artist, author, philosopher and teacher. He as been a strong proponent of art and consciousness and a teacher for more than 33 years, especially in the visionary and fantastic genres, and has been referred to as “the lynch-pin of visionary art” by Alex Grey. He co-founded and directed the first Institute for Contemplative Education and Visionary Art in upstate New York in 1980. Later he served as the Dean at Naropa University. He then founded and directed the new School of Extended Studies from 1991- 1997. In 1997 he was charged by his old mentor (since 1973), Prof. Ernst Fuchss, to continue the teachings of the Old Masters and inspire New Visions.
