The Salon de l’Art fantastique européen: SAFE 2011, opens on 11 February in the historic halls of the thermal baths of Le Mont-Dore. The 6th European Fantastic Art Salon  (Salon: SAFE) is notable for three special reasons:

  1. the theme of the major cultural event that “volcanoes”
  2. the quality of the 12 invited artists from Europe is superior.
  3. the town of Le Mont-Dore show the instructive exhibition Auvergne, land of volcanoes. “

The theme of “Volcanoes” gives the international event an explicit regional magnetism. The famous spa town of Le Mont-Dore, is a popular winter sports resort is situated at 1050 meters in the volcanic-rich mountains of the Massif Central (central France). The choice of the topic has inspired the creation of a series of expressive images, which focuses on the enigmatic mountain Puy-de-Dôme, the emblem of the Auvergne region.

The list of the 12 invited artist is once again outstanding. After the huge success of “Dalis Erben” in Bavaria in the past summer and the triumph in the Salon Art en Capital at the Grand Palais in Paris, the event at  Le Mont-Dore with the participation of 6 top European artists will also be an event not to miss. The following artists will be exhibiting at the 2012 SAFE: Angerer the Elder (D), Michel Barthélemy (B), Alain Bazard (F), Gilles Chambon (F), Marc Desmullier (F), Monica Fagan (GB), David Lefebvre (F) Christian Lepère (F), Michael Maschka (D), Fabrizio Riccardi (I), Vichneva Olga (RUS) Siegfried Zademack (D). New to the 6th Phantastensalon is the French painter and architect Gilles Chambon from Libourne (Bordeaux) and the talented artist Olga Vichneva from Kazan (Russia), birthplace of Dali’s famous muse Gala (born Elena Diakonova: 26-08-1894).

The traditional direction of the Salon-SAFE will continue. The trophy “Apocalypse Dore” is awarded by an international jury to the most significant image in the series “Volcanoes.” The 12 participating artists will be offering more than a hundred small works for competitive prices. The purpose is to bring art to the people, which has been ongoing at Le Mont-Dore for a number of years.

As part of the salon SAFE 2012, the town of Le Mont-Dore, will also be presenting an education exhibiton, Auvergne, the Land of the Volcanoes.

It is expected that in February 6000 visitors will come to the Baths of Le Mont-Dore, which will function for one month as a temple to Surrealism. The opening will take place on 11 February at 18.00 clock.
