Ernst Fuchs 80th Birthday Celebrations
On the 13th of February 2011, Ernst Fuchs celebrated his 80th birthday. In March, he then travelled to Klagenfurt where his Apocalypse Chapel is and then Vienna, where he met with hundreds of well-wishers. More than 500 guests and international stars of Fantastic Realism gathered to congratulate him and to present a series of lectures.
The Vienna events were celebrated in style at Palais Palffy where the Phantasten Museum has been opened. On display was Fuchs’ artwork from Dr. Cornelia Mensdorff-Pouilly’s personal collection. Dr. Cornelia Mensdorff-Pouilly was at one time his former manager and muse. On hand throughout most of the weekend’s activities was the media. Special interest was shown by TV broadcasters on the Saturday night at the dinner where select guests were invited.
