Artists

The list of artists presented here is by no means exhaustive and is only a representative overview of associated artists. Some work closely together as friends or in exhibitions or group projects. Others may not even agree on the associations that that others apply to them. That is in part the aim of Fantastic Visions is to document the history and weave of relationships. The other intent is to present the wealth of creativity, imagination and skill of these artists.

Lucy Hardie is an Australian artist based in Ocean Grove, Victoria. Her work has since been exhibited throughout Australia and internationally and published in a variety of books.

Eli Tiunine

Eli Tiunine

Tiunine Eli was born in 1957 in Warsaw to a family of painters. In 1976 she left Poland for France and was admitted to the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She graduated in 1981.

Carrie Ann Baade

Carrie Ann Baade

Carrie Ann Baade is an internationally exhibiting artist whose surreal oil paintings are rich with allegorical meta-narratives inspired by literature and art history. Exhibiting widely with the Pop Surrealists and her paintings have been featured in Metamorphosis, a survey of the top, contemporary Visionary Surrealists.

Wessi

Wessi

Wessi graduated with honors for painting and graphics from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. In the following year, she was invited to exhibit at the H.R. Giger Museum in Switzerland.

Maura Holden

Maura Holden

Maura has never had formal painting instruction but has learned from friends, and pieced together her own education from a combination of book research, experiments with art materials and techniques, looking at other artists’ work, and a lot of time at the easel, becoming one with the paint.

Elke Wassmann

Elke Wassmann

Elke Wassmann was born 1937 in Kiel, she studied at the Werkkunstschule Mannheim with Prof. Paul Berger Bergner and Prof. Geissler Kasmekat. She lives and works in Heidelberg and is a founding member and current officer of the Heidelberg painters circle.

Brigid Marlin

Brigid Marlin was born in Washington, D.C., studied in Dublin, Paris and New York, and now lives and works in England. She eventually travelled to Vienna, specifically to learn the Mische Technique from Ernst Fuchs. She is the founder of the Society for the Art of Imagination.

Laurie Lipton

Laurie Lipton was born in New York and began drawing at the age of four. She attended art classes in school but hated what the teachers showed her. She was the first person to graduate from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pennsylvania with a Fine Arts Degree in Drawing; she also graduated with honors.
